#CIV 5 CAMPAIGN EDITION FREE#
Why do you think free to play games are so profitable? Low budget, highly impulsive player base, with the end goal only reachable in a timely manner (2 months vs 2 years) if you choose to pay to win if it's even designed to end. By submitting to the DLC's as the new standard, you allow yourself to be duped into paying more to satisfy your completionist nature. If it was planned from the start, why separate it from the main game? Winging it are your words, mot mine. I think a game should be planned out, don't get me wrong, just not with micro transactions that should have been included content. Destiny had more content than Goldeneye? Pokemon Red/blue is lacking compared to Go? Dragon Age 2 (with it's reused maps) had more content than Baldur's Gate 2? Than Mario 64? Not at all. Then they developed deluxe editions, followed by the DLC trend as of late. What universe were you raised in? Games (from about 1990) had cost 50 dollars for a major title. It's either that or the new standard for your average 'full' game will be 100$ instead of 60$. Tying this into the graphics debate, I would rather see a 'dark ages' for video games, where graphics take a small step back, to make solid games instead of cookie cutters of selling schemes, as well as evolve methods of game development for cheaper production without sacrificing quality. Will we ever see fully created games anymore or can we expect half empty shells for 60$, getting the actual 'full game' for 100$ total? Instead, nowadays DLC is composed alongside the game. This would be extra work close to or post release for content they really wanted to make it into the game. The idea of DLC was to be added content, put in AFTER THE FACT of content being cut due to deadlines. There's a chance you might find one rotten & unhatched, mainly the original egg. Don't count your chickens before they hatch.
